In the north-west of Lesvos, at the 8th kilometer from Kalloni to Molyvos, through a rural road to the abandoned rural village of Klapados, in the Rema stream, is the impressive ’ Nycthera’’ waterfall.
The water of the waterfall falls from a steep cliff about 15 meters high, which was created along the fault that cuts through the wider area of Klapados and cuts the andesitic from the glassy lavas. The momentum of the water during its fall creates a natural depression at the point of the fall, forming a large natural pond.
The ‘’Rema’’ stream originates from the south-eastern side of the Horevtra hill (699m), meets the Acheronas river and ends at the “9 Kamares” location, where it forms extensive wetlands before flowing into the Kalloni gulf.
