At the northern end of the island is the charming Molyvos or Mithymna, as the daughter of the mythical king Makaras and sister of Mytilene, Antissa and Arisvi was called.

The settlement is characterized by its unparalleled natural beauty and picturesque architecture. It is built amphitheatrically with its beautiful stone houses and the imposing Byzantine castle dominating the top of the hill. Stone-paved cobblestone streets, old neighborhoods, beautifully preserved mansions – among them those of Argyris Eftaliotis, Hlias Benezis, Krallis, etc. – old fountains, but also picturesque shops make up the incredible landscape of Molyvos with a view of the endless blue.
