The “World of Ouzo” Museum is located at the headquarters of the Isidoros Arvanitou Distillery in Plomari and opened its doors to the public in 2015.
Visitors to the Museum have the opportunity to “digitally” experience a journey through the tradition and history of the Distillery that has been operating since 1894 until today. A companion on this journey are the objects that were used in the past during the distillation and bottling. The collection includes old stills, distillate collection containers, stoppers and labeling machines, the so-called labelers.
In addition, visitors can visit the modern facilities and watch the entire production process from the distillation area to its bottling. The 18 small, handmade copper stills have been made by the same family of coppersmiths (Eleftheriadis) and have allowed the Distillery to increase its production volume in order to meet increased export needs and consumer demand.
Finally, after getting to know the ingredients, herbs and fruits such as anise as well as the production process, visitors can taste Plomariou Ouzo and learn the ideal way to serve it in a specially designed area.
