On its western side rises Mount Olympus with a height of 968 m. which is mainly covered by chestnut forests and Tracheia Pefki pine forest, except for its bare limestone peak.<\/p>\n<p>The very special habitats of these areas in terms of fauna, are among others: porphyry heron, white stork and brown goose (birds), Persian water snake, common water snake, the two species of river turtle (amphibious reptiles), Apollonian archon (invertebrates), squirrel of Lesvos, tranomyotid, Blasius&#8217; rhinoceros, even the last otters (mammals) etc. The flora is also of great value and presents a rich botanical interest, with the protected endemic species Alyssum lesbiacum, orchids, reeds, sedges, willows, willows and carrion (elms), etc.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The second area is the Gulf of Gera, along the shores of which there are small salt marshes or marshes (Dipi &#8211; Larsos, Evreiaki, Charamida).
