{"id":7167,"date":"2023-08-04T09:44:53","date_gmt":"2023-08-04T09:44:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lesvosgeopark.aegeansolutions.com\/poi\/%ce%b1%ce%bb%cf%85%ce%ba%ce%ae-%ce%ba%ce%b1%ce%bb%ce%bb%ce%bf%ce%bd%ce%ae%cf%82\/"},"modified":"2023-11-14T14:42:57","modified_gmt":"2023-11-14T14:42:57","slug":"kalloni-saltpans","status":"publish","type":"poi","link":"https:\/\/www.lesvosgeopark.gr\/en\/poi\/kalloni-saltpans\/","title":{"rendered":"Kalloni Salt Pans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It is located 3.5 km southeast of Kalloni.It is the largest wetland of Lesvos, having an area of 4.6 sq.km.It is a system of wetlands that includes industrial salt flats, wetlands, salt marshes and coastal dunes.<\/p>\n<p>Although the wetland is highly modified and reduced, it is still very important due to its size and location, strong horizontal heterogeneity, high bird diversity and many nesting species.<\/p>\n<p>The prevailing vegetation is halophytic (Salicornia europaea, Halocnemum strobilaceum, Atriplex portulacoides, Arthrocnemum spp., Limonium spp.) and in many peripheral locations the overwater\/wet meadow (Phragmites australis, Typha sp., Juncus spp., etc.).<\/p>\n<p>At least 60 species of waterfowl have been recorded in saltpans, the most important of which played a key role in the inclusion of the Gulf of Kalloni in the network of Special Protection Zones being the Flamingos<em> (Phoenicopterus rubber), <\/em>the Brown Duck <em>(Tadorna ferruginea)<\/em> and the Pied avocet (Recurvirostra avosetta ).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","categories-thesis":[207],"geologikes-thesis":[],"oikologikes-thesis":[220],"politistikes-thesis":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.lesvosgeopark.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/poi\/7167"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.lesvosgeopark.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/poi"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.lesvosgeopark.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/poi"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.lesvosgeopark.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=7167"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"categories-thesis","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.lesvosgeopark.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories-thesis?post=7167"},{"taxonomy":"geologikes-thesis","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.lesvosgeopark.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/geologikes-thesis?post=7167"},{"taxonomy":"oikologikes-thesis","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.lesvosgeopark.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/oikologikes-thesis?post=7167"},{"taxonomy":"politistikes-thesis","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.lesvosgeopark.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/politistikes-thesis?post=7167"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
