It is located 1.5 km SW of Kalloni and has an area of approximately 15 acres.

It is one of the few wetlands in the protected area of the Gulf of Kalloni wetlands that is not coastal.

It is 2.5 kilometers from the mouth of the river Ennia Kamares, but it is part of its old bed (a tributary), as it has remained as it is surrounded by roads and agricultural lands.

It is considered a separate wetland as, unlike the rest of the riverbed, it retains water even in the summer.

It may not “fill the eye” (compared to other much larger wetlands!) but it is one of the most popular areas for bird watchers – both in spring and autumn!

Very important area for reptiles (Striped and Spotted Water Turtle, Water Snake and Lake Snake) and amphibians (toads, frogs), which find shelter there even during the summer.
