The presence of intense tectonic activity in Lesvos has contributed to the creation of impressive waterfalls which are scattered throughout the Geopark. These are creations of nature in Lesvos of unique beauty.

They show a sharp, vertical change of the riverbed and their creation in Lesvos is usually associated with the presence of large faults.
