Imposing building of neoclassical architecture that houses the Experimental and the 1st General Lyceum of Mytilene. It has a P-shaped floor plan and consists of three floors: basement (auxiliary spaces), ground floor (classrooms) and first floor (library and ceremony hall). The architectural elements of the facade are made of white marble.
The work of the Lesbian architect Argyris Adali, who was an assistant to the German architects Hansen and Ziller. The construction of the building took place in the two years 1888-1890, at the expense of the benefactors of the place, M. Mitrelia and Z. Vournazou. In 1912 it was used by the liberating Greek army.
It is located in the center of the city and is a point of reference for residents as well as a pole of attraction for visitors.
