The Archaeological Collection of Eresos is housed in the former building of the School of Skala Eresos in the immediate vicinity of the archaeological site of the Basilica of St. Andreas and closest to the Acropolis of Ancient Eresos and the preserved parts of the ancient wall. The exhibition hosts a selection of the most interesting findings of the ancient city and is organized thematically, in four sections: private life, religion-worship, burial customs and public life .
The section dealing with private life includes ceramics and other objects of daily use, starting from the Late Bronze Age. The religion-worship section includes a section of a kouros statue, statuettes of gods and heroes, votives and a Sacred Law, an inscription defining rules of attendance at a sanctuary, probably of Apollo. Among the reliefs in honor of desecrated dead, a relief from the 1st century is rare. BC-1st century AD, from Eresos, with a representation of a woman on horseback.
The funerary customs section includes the most representative examples of various types of epitaph reliefs, offerings from the archaic necropolis of Eresos and a clay sarcophagus in the Clazomenian type. In the section dealing with public life, inscriptions from the great epigraphic wealth of the ancient city are included.
In the outdoor area, large-scale architectural elements are exhibited (bases and flywheels of columns, Ionic and Doric capitals, parts of friezes and cornices), votive reliefs and altars from Hellenistic and Roman times, while a space has been provided for the exhibition of part of a mosaic floor from Roman times.
