Eresos

Eresos is located at the western peninsula of the island and is one of the most famous for its history and beauty towns in the southwestern part of Lesvos.

It preserves its traditional element intact, which is evident from the magnificent mansions that adorn the village and from the monasteries. Of these, the Pithariou Monastery stands out, located in a small green basin formed between bare volcanic structures that make up a unique landscape. The Archaeological Museum exhibits many findings from the wider region. His collection includes finds related to Sappho, inscriptions from the city of Eresos, ceramics, tombstones, altars and offerings to gods, parts of marble statues, etc.
