Mesagros Bakery

The bakery in Mesagros (former Marmarelli – Hatzikonstanti bakery) belongs to the Ministry of Culture since 1985 and is located in the village of Mesagro. It is included in the monuments of production and trade. It is a ground floor stone building that was built at the beginning of the century and operated until the end of 1970 as a bakery.

On its north wall there is a mural of Theophilos measuring 3.60 x 3.50 m. It dates from around the 1930s and depicts scenes from the history of bread. Inside, it is interesting in terms of the layout of the space (traditional way of making bread) with the characteristic loft-fermenter. The restoration of the building was done in order to function as a small folklore museum.
