The area overlaps in some places with the Special Areas of Conservation”Gulf of Kalloni and Terrestrial Coastal Ecosystems” and “Gera Bay, Dipi Marsh & Mount Olympus”. In addition to the rich flora of Olympus, it is an interesting area both in terms of the number and presence of rare and endemic birds.
It is an important area for both the survival and reproduction of birds of prey.
