People who visit the Lesvos Petrified Forest will have the unique opportunity to admire the marine part of it in the coastal zone of the isle Nissiopi, as well as its land part with the unique findings of petrified trees that are 20 million years old. Visitors will travel to the isle Nissiopi and the marine part of the Lesvos Petrified Forest by the special boat of the Museum. Through the glass bottom boat visitors will be able to observe not only the unique fossil sites that are now under the sea but also the rich benthic flora and fauna and the unique geological formations and structures.

The Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest offers its visitors the opportunity to live a unique marine tour experience in the Nissiopi Marine Park of the Petrified Forest, a unique Natural Monument with worldwide recognition and special environmental, scientific and educational value.

Impressive 20-million-year-old fossilized tree trunks, steep coasts, large tectonic faults, impressive coastal landforms and layers of volcanic rocks that appear in the coastal zone of Nissiopi, but also the rich benthic flora and fauna offer participants unique experiences.

The visit to Nissiopi Marine Park begins with a scientific briefing for all participants at the Museum facilities in Sigri. Then the visitors go to the port of Sigri, where they board the special boat with a glass bottom. Organized visits to the Nisiopi Marine Park take place daily after booking at the Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest at phone 22530-54434.

The visit to the Nissiopi Marine Park takes place as long as the weather conditions allow the glass-bottom boat to sail and with a minimum number of participations of 10 people.
